Start with the legal basis

Wanting to live in Slovenia does not yet determine the right permit

Citizenship, work, income, family and place of filing affect the available routes. The wrong basis can mean unnecessary documents or an unworkable plan.

Assess my route

01

A company is not a residence permit

Registering a business does not itself give its owner the right to live or work in Slovenia.

02

Banking and housing need separate checks

Opening an account and securing housing depend on documents, citizenship, compliance review and the provider.

03

Rules differ by citizenship

Entry, filing, documents and practical restrictions can differ for Russian, Israeli and other nationals.

What we assess

The route must work legally and practically

We check filing rights, documents, place of filing, housing, banking, tax and post-arrival steps.

Citizenship and legality of current stay

Purpose: work, business, study, family or remote activity

Place and method of filing

Passport, criminal record and civil-status records

Income, insurance and sufficient means

Apostille, legalisation and certified translation

Housing, address registration and permit collection

Banking, tax, employment or company operations

Sanctions screening, banking checks, consular practice and document requirements can change. We confirm the concrete option before action.

Documents and relocation

We build evidence for the chosen route, not just a folder

We first identify the legally relevant facts, then issue a precise checklist and order of work.

Personal records

Passport, civil-status records, criminal-record certificate and family documents.

Residence basis

Employment agreement, business, study, family or foreign remote-work evidence.

Financial and insurance evidence

Funds, insurance, income and tax information depending on the route.

Practical steps

Housing, address registration, bank, tax number, translations and permit collection.

Frequently asked questions

Moving to and residing in Slovenia: where to begin

General answers based on official Slovenian sources. Every concrete case is assessed separately.

Legal information reviewed on 19 September 2026.

What are the main residence routes?

Possible routes include employment, the EU Blue Card, study, family, remote work under the digital-nomad regime and other purposes provided by law. The right option depends on the facts of the case.

Official source

Does buying property create a residence right?

No. Buying or renting property does not itself create a right of residence; a separate lawful basis is required.

Official source

Can I open a company and immediately obtain residence?

Company registration and the owner's right to live or work in Slovenia are separate questions and should be planned together.

Official source

Who qualifies for the digital-nomad permit?

It is intended for eligible non-EU and non-EEA nationals who work remotely for a foreign employer, client or as self-employed abroad without entering the Slovenian labour market.

Official source

Can I file while already in Slovenia?

That depends on the route and legality of the current stay. For digital nomads, filing abroad or at an administrative unit during lawful stay in Slovenia is expressly provided.

Official source

Do you help with housing and bank accounts?

Yes, we can coordinate these steps. The outcome depends on documents, the provider's review and current compliance rules, so it cannot be guaranteed in advance.
