Build the company, residence and compliance plan as one coordinated project

Company registration is only one step. We help international founders choose the structure, prepare the setup, connect it with residence and work rules, and coordinate tax, banking and ongoing legal support.

  • EU and non-EU founders
  • Company + residence planning
  • Fixed scope before work begins
  • One point of contact for specialist coordination

What do you want the Slovenian company to achieve?

Tell us about the founders, activity and relocation plans. We will identify the setup path and the questions to solve first.

Beyond registration

A registered company is not yet an operating business — or a residence permit

Foreign founders often discover too late that ownership, directorship, work rights, banking, tax and operational registrations are separate questions. We connect them before commitments are made.

Review my setup

01

The cheapest formation route may not fit

A standard SPOT setup works only in defined situations; more complex ownership, contributions or documents can require a notary.

02

Company ownership does not grant residence

A non-EU founder needs a separate legal basis to live or work in Slovenia.

03

Tax and banking need early planning

Founder tax numbers, beneficial-owner data, account opening and accounting should be sequenced with the formation.

Choose the support level

From formation to a fully coordinated Slovenian setup

We define the package after the initial review, so you pay for the work your project actually needs.

Setup

Structure review, founder tax-number steps, formation documents, registration sequence and practical handover.

Setup + Residence

Everything in Setup, connected with a realistic residence and work-permit strategy for the founder or key staff.

Full Compliance

Formation, residence planning and coordination of accounting, tax, contracts, employment and ongoing corporate needs.

Branch or International Expansion

A route review for a foreign company entering Slovenia, including local registrations and operational dependencies.

Not sure whether you need a d.o.o., s.p. or branch?

We compare control, liability, capital, residence implications and operating needs before recommending the setup route.

Core setup decisions

Resolve these questions before the company becomes expensive to change

The right answer depends on the founders, source of capital, business model and whether anyone needs Slovenian residence or work rights.

Legal form and ownership structure

Company name, activity and Slovenian business address

Founder and director Slovenian tax numbers

Share capital and form of contributions

Standard SPOT formation or notarial route

Residence and work rights for founders and staff

Banking, beneficial-owner and accounting setup

Contracts, taxes and sector-specific permissions

A standard d.o.o. generally requires EUR 7,500 minimum share capital. Formation can be free through SPOT in eligible standard cases, but professional, notarial, banking and specialist work remains separate.

A practical setup file

Prepare the company for its first transaction, not only registration

We coordinate the formation records with the operational items that founders need immediately afterwards.

Founder and ownership records

Passports, tax-number applications, ownership information and foreign-company documents where relevant.

Formation documents

Company name, registered activity, address consent, articles or deed and director appointments.

Banking and accounting

Capital account or payment route, beneficial-owner information, accounting handover and tax registrations.

Immigration and operations

Residence and work strategy, employment documents, contracts and licences needed for the business activity.

Frequently asked questions

Starting a business in Slovenia: clear answers for foreign founders

Practical answers based on official Slovenian business-registration information.

Legal information reviewed on 15 September 2026.

Can a foreigner own a Slovenian company?

Yes. Foreign individuals and companies can establish or own a Slovenian company, subject to identification, tax-number, formation and other applicable requirements.

Official source

How much capital does a Slovenian d.o.o. require?

A standard limited liability company generally requires at least EUR 7,500 in share capital. More complex contributions or arrangements can require a notarial formation route.

Official source

Is company registration free?

Eligible standard formations through a SPOT point or the SPOT portal can be free. This does not mean that tax-number, banking, notarial, translation, immigration or professional advisory work is automatically free.

Official source

Does opening a company give me Slovenian residence?

No. Company ownership and Slovenian residence are separate legal questions. A non-EU founder must qualify under an appropriate residence and, where relevant, work basis.

Official source

When is a notary required?

A notary is required in various non-standard situations, including certain complex ownership arrangements, contributions other than cash, branches and more complex legal forms.

Official source

Can Slovenia Law coordinate the full setup?

Yes. We can coordinate formation, immigration, documents and specialist handovers. Regulated notarial, tax and legal services are performed by appropriately licensed partners.
